Welcome and President’s Message
• There was a moment’s silence to recognize a former member, Joan McCullagh, who passed away since our last AGM.
• Tom introduced the LBC executive members.
• Last season we had 204 members and we hope to have around the same number this year. This large membership is due in no small part to all the great people we have at the club who make the bowling experience fun for all who play.
• This ranges from those who run the leagues, those who coach us, those who organize us, those who are always there to set things up, those who feed us, those who fundraise, those who sponsor events and those who offer words of encouragement to new and failing bowlers such as myself. Thanks to all.
• Thanks also to the staff of the front office, Lisa, Tanya, Erin and Peter, who continue to be helpful and supportive of all our events.

Lawn Bowling Club Policies
The following nine policies can be found on the lawn bowling club website under the Policies tab:
1. Executive Nominations
2. Compensation for Participants in Championships
3. Compensation for Coach Training
4. Participation of Guests
5. Registration Fee Refund
6. Immediate Past President’s Term
7. Bowls Rental and Usage
8. Consumption of Alcohol on Club Property
9. Private Lawn Bowling Event Hosted by a Member

All members are expected to be familiar with the policies and adhere to them. Two of the key policies concern guests at the LBC and alcohol consumption on lawn bowling property.
• Participation of Guests – See Appendix 1 of the minutes
o Tom noted that at the Open House (May 15th), all BBC members are welcome and are not considered guests of the LBC
o This exemption also applies to the first four weeks of Skills and Drills; BBC members who attend the Open House can attend up to 4 Skills and Drills sessions without being deemed a guest of the LBC

• Consumption of Alcohol on Club Property – See Appendix 2 of the minutes
o A discussion took place regarding the need for the Alcohol policy and the processes involved concerning alcohol
o Lisa Lamb outlined the process to obtain a Special Occasions Permit, which is required in order to serve alcohol in the area immediately surrounding the clubhouse, which now requires approval by the LCBO, Fire Department and local

City Councilor; the cost is $250, which is paid by the sponsor when required for a corporate event
o With respect to the greens being excluded from the Special Occasions Permit, the request is based on the square footage being covered by the permit; there is no additional cost for their inclusion but there is a concern that the inclusion of the greens could jeopardize the permit approval
o The main club monitors the removal of alcoholic beverages from the club to the best of their ability
o At the lawn bowling club, it is the joint responsibility of the BBC Smart Servers, the manager and members of the section to monitor compliance with the rules

• A member asked if corporate event volunteers will be expected to enforce the rules during events
o Cathy Moxey will ensure that the sponsor understands the rules and shares them with the participants
o As well, music volume at the lawn bowling club must be within the volume specified by the City of Toronto Noise Bylaw for the time of day during which the music is being played; noise complaints to the City Councilor could have a negative impact on future permit requests
