Welcome and President’s Message
Tom welcomed the members and introduced the board members.
• BBC Governance Structure
o Last year the governance structure of the BBC was changed to comply with changes to Not For
Profit legislation
o This fall the sports sections were directed to align the composition of their executive and the
terms of the executive members with that of the BBC board
o The executive could be made up of 3 or 5 members and members are elected for a 3-year term
o We opted to have a 5-member executive and requested to stay with a two-year term but were
unsuccessful
o Under the new structure the position of Immediate Past President (IPP) is non-voting and has a
term of one year, at the option of the IPP
• Successes of Bowlers in 2025
o Rachel Jones, Mari-Lynn Wikant and Andrea Hampton won the District and Provincial Ladies
Triples and went on to the Nationals in Edmonton, where they achieved an impressive fourth
place

Welcome and President’s Message
• There was a moment’s silence to recognize a former member, Joan McCullagh, who passed away since our last AGM.
• Tom introduced the LBC executive members.
• Last season we had 204 members and we hope to have around the same number this year. This large membership is due in no small part to all the great people we have at the club who make the bowling experience fun for all who play.
• This ranges from those who run the leagues, those who coach us, those who organize us, those who are always there to set things up, those who feed us, those who fundraise, those who sponsor events and those who offer words of encouragement to new and failing bowlers such as myself. Thanks to all.
• Thanks also to the staff of the front office, Lisa, Tanya, Erin and Peter, who continue to be helpful and supportive of all our events.

Balmy Beach Lawn Bowling Club Spring Meeting April 24, 2022|11:00am | Meeting called to order by Tom Marley

Introduction
• Tom introduced the LBC board members. Sandra was unable to attend and Will Woitowich sat in for her.
• There was a moment of silence for members who have passed in the last year.
• Tom announced the draw for a free membership for which tickets were on sale prior to the start of the meeting.
• 83 current and potential bowlers were in attendance.

Opportunities to Bowl in 2022
Tom outlined all the opportunities available to members to bowl and/or practice during the season:
• Monday 10am & 2pm – Mixed Trebles League (Coordinators – Elaine MacSween and Dave Smith)
• Tuesday 2pm – Men’s Trebles League (Coordinator – Ken McAulay)
• Wednesday 7pm – Wednesday Night Open Trebles (Coordinators Andrea Hampton and Rachel Jones)
• Thursday 1pm – Bowling Babes (Ladies’ Trebles League) (Coordinator Charlene Rathgeb)
